1. What age group can join the youth lacrosse program?

Our program is open to boys and girls grades K-8th. We offer age-specific training and teams to ensure that all players, from beginners to experienced, get the most out of their lacrosse experience.

2. Do I need prior lacrosse experience to join?

No prior experience is required! We welcome players of all skill levels, from beginners to experienced athletes. Our coaches focus on developing basic skills for beginners and enhancing the skills of more advanced players.

3. What equipment do I need for my child to play lacrosse?

Players will need the following equipment:

Boys Lacrosse:

  • Lacrosse Stick: Available in youth, intermediate, and adult sizes.
  • Helmet with Faceguard: A required safety item.
  • Shoulder Pads: To protect the chest, shoulders, and upper body.
  • Gloves: To protect the hands while playing.
  • Cleats: For traction on grass or turf fields.
  • Mouthguard: For safety.
  • Athletic Cup: For boys (optional but recommended).

Girls Lacrosse:

  • Lacrosse Stick: Available in youth, intermediate, and adult sizes.
  • Googles: Available in youth, intermediate, and adult sizes.
  • Mouthguard: for safety.

4. When and where are the practices held?

Practices are held at Murfin Fields. Practice days/times are separated by age group and can generally last around between 1 to 1.5 hours. The full schedule will be provided once your child is registered.

5. What happens if a game is canceled due to bad weather?

If a game or practice is canceled due to weather, we will notify all families by using the Team snap app as early as possible. Be sure to follow us on social media and check your email for updates on cancellations.

6. What should my child bring to practice?

In addition to their required equipment, players should bring:

  • A water bottle to stay hydrated.
  • A positive attitude and a willingness to learn!
  • Comfortable athletic wear and appropriate footwear.

7. How can I register my child for the program?

Registration is easy! Simply visit our Registration Page and click on the link. Once you’ve completed the registration, you’ll receive a confirmation email with further details about the season, and practice schedules.

8. Are there any volunteer opportunities?

Yes! We encourage parents to get involved. We are always looking for volunteers to help with:

  • Coaching assistance.
  • Team Managers and coordinators.
  • Organizing events or fundraising activities.

9. Can my child play if they’ve never played lacrosse before?

Absolutely! Our program is designed to help players of all skill levels improve. Our coaches will teach the basics of the game, including passing, catching, and shooting, and gradually introduce more advanced skills. It’s a great way to get started in a fun and supportive environment.

10. Will there be games against other teams?

Yes, our program includes regular games against other local youth lacrosse teams. We will provide a full game schedule once the season starts, so you’ll know when and where to attend.

11. What happens if my child can’t make it to a game or practice?

If your child is unable to attend a practice or game, please let the coach know as soon as possible. We understand that sometimes conflicts arise, but it’s helpful for the coach to know in advance so they can plan accordingly.

12. Are there any fundraising or sponsorship opportunities?

Yes, we host fundraising events throughout the year to support the program and keep registration fees affordable. We also accept sponsorships from local businesses. If you’re interested in sponsoring a team or fundraising, please contact us via our Contact Us page.

13. What is the commitment required for the season?

The season typically runs from March to May, and players are expected to attend practices and participate in games. We ask that players and families commit to attending as many practices and games as possible to ensure the team functions well.
